I thoroughly enjoyed this book. At first, I kept waiting for a plot, and then I realized there wasn’t one and wasn’t supposed to be. The author did what Seinfeld did. When they asked Jerry Seinfeld what his TV show was about, he said “Nothing.” “French Stones,” to me, was about nothing – and, like Seinfeld, about everything. The people and the places Ron Peeleman chose to write about became very much alive for me. The key was slowing down, as the French would do, and read as if I were strolling the streets of Saint Siffret. I was amazed at how many new friends I made and the sights I was able to see. I have now traveled to a wonderful place through the descriptive words of the author. I have smelled, tasted, heard, seen and felt everything. I have laughed, cried, and danced through the pages.
